Australian Blogging Conference Update

Important Update 02 February 2007: Unfortunately due to a last minute and unexpected problem with sponsorship, QUT has decided to postpone the Australian Blogging Conference until later in the year.  At this stage we are now planning to hold the conference in August this year.  Read more here.

I am pleased to confirm that the ARC Centre of Excellence for Creative Industries and Innovation and the Queensland University of Technology will host the Australian Blogging Conference on Thursday 8 March 2007 at the newly renovated State Library of Queensland in Brisbane.

More information over the fold.

I hope to make an announcement about sponsorship soon, but I can say that it is unlikely that we will charge any registration fee.  In the meantime, if your business would be interested in sponsoring any part of the Conference, please contact me on p2.black@qut.edu.au and I will email you a Sponsorship Kit.

The official Conference website will also hopefully be up soon.  The website will contain details of the proposed schedule and other relevant information.  However, you can see the latest version of the Schedule and the Conference Philosophy in this document

I can also announce that Professor William W Fisher III, the Director of the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University will be attending, as will Senator Andrew Bartlett.  Professor Fisher will also be presenting a public lecture on the evening of Wednesday 8 March 2007.

Please email me if you have any suggestions or ideas for the Conference, or if you would like to be involved in any way.

See my earlier announcement here.

More details soon ...

That's looking very good!

That's great, Peter. Now we have to do some viral promotion to get the word out.

Peter thats a great idea and really good to see you are taking the initiative.

I'll definitely be attending. :)

Peter, Great idea. This is awesome. I finally found a good reason to use my frequent flyer points. Just have to ask the boss now! ;)

I am excited about this event.

Thanks Peter

I will be there.
I would love to hear from other bloggers and talk about my story with my nightlife/multi user/car blog

Sounds great - you need a mailing list and/or site with details though - keep me posted via email if you can.
