AUSTRALIAN workers are addicted to surfing the internet while at work.
A survey has revealed 96 per cent of the workforce used the internet for purposes unrelated to their job. Banking, travel and shopping were the most common online pastimes.
And the lure of the internet is even stronger than caffeine, as 52 per cent of workers were prepared to give up their morning coffee rather than sacrifice online browsing.
The results mirror British research, which has found "wilfing" (short for "what was I looking for?") consumed up to two days a month for millions of people.
