Over at the Election Blackout blog I have posted a new podcast, dubbed the Election Blackout Gabfest (with apologies to the Political Gabfest team at Slate). In this podcast I chat with Steve Hind, a regular contributor to this blog, about the election campaign so far. We discuss our general impressions of the first week of the campaign, Labor's climate change policy, the clash between GetUp vs AEC, as well as looking forward to the debate and the week ahead. The title of this blog is inspired by the Opinion of the US Supreme Court in Board of Education v Barnette 319 US 624 (1943): "But freedom to differ is not limited to things that do not matter much. That would be a mere shadow of freedom. The test of its substance is the right to differ as to things that touch the heart of the existing order."
