I'm participating in a new weekly podcast with a few friends - Dan Barrett from Televised Revolution, Michael Meloni from Somebody Think of the Children, and Sarah Moran from @reviewbrisbane - called Digital Much.  The third episode of Digital Munch is now online for your listening pleasure:

This is the third and final part of our discussion on digital media. While I’m sure we’ll take more specific looks at digital media products in the very near future, we were pretty keen to take a wider view at the subject as we settled in to our podcast seats at Digital Munch.

We examine recommendations and the notion of finding content online, the ethics involved in personal recommendations, and we nosedive into pornography. Needless to say, Pedobear rates a brief mention.

An idea for a new blog ... Australians blogging about US politics

During the Australian federal election last year, I had a lot of fun maintaining a group blog called Election Blackout that was dedicated to the politics and policy of the campaign.  I think I managed to get a diverse group of bloggers together, who were not just the usual voices, and as a result it made a unique contribution to the Australian blogosphere leading up to that election.  When the election was over, I wondered what the future of the blog would be, but as I quietly expected would be the case, it has simply been left to die the slow death that so many blogs before it have also undergone.

However, I am nonetheless interested in starting up another group blog.  This blog wouldn't be about Australian politics at all, but it would be Australians blogging about American politics in the lead up to the 2012 Presidential election.  Judging by my Twitter feed, there are many Australians (like me), who find American politics to be far more compelling and provocative than Australian politics, and so I would be keen to get a group of Australian bloggers together to contribute a blog on American politics.

So I would be interested in getting your feedback about this idea.  Would you read such a blog?  Would you contribute to such a blog?  (If so, let me know!)  Also, what should the blog be called?

Digital Munch Podcast - Episode 2

I'm participating in a new weekly podcast with a few friends - Dan Barrett from Televised Revolution, Michael Meloni from Somebody Think of the Children, and Sarah Moran from @reviewbrisbane - called Digital Much.  The second episode of Digital Munch is now online for your listening pleasure:

We decided when we launched Digital Munch that it would be best to start off with something near and dear to our hearts: media consumption. The way that we engage with our consumption has changed drastically over the past decade. We’re downloading, uploading, and rarely ever spending $1.50 to buy the paper.

With such a big topic, we decided to carry the conversation over several episodes. This week, we discuss the biggest concern with online media: with so much content to watch, how are consumers expected to work out what it is that they want to watch?

Each week on Digital Munch we also review a snack. On the Digital Munch table this week was the mysterious Spring Roll-like product ‘Natural Snack’, purchased from a local Asian grocer.

A new podcast: Digital Munch Podcast – Episode 1

Last month I blogged about an idea for a new podcast that I was involved in with few friends, called  Digital Much.  A few weeks ago we posted a pilot episode, got some feedback and over the weekend we recorded our first episode.  And I am now happy to report that the first episode of Digital Munch is now online for your listening pleasure:

The Digital Munch Podcast is now officially up and running.

Each week the Digital Munch panel sit down to discuss the way that their lives are changing as a result of the digital world we live in. Media, art, culture, food, sex, dating are topics all open for discussion. With snacks.

So, what’s on the agenda for this week?

Media. Digital distribution has radically changed the way that we consume media. In this, the first of a three part discussion, the panel talk about the types of media they consume in 2011 and how this changes their relationship with older media. Does our panel still listen to the radio? You’ll have to listen in to find out.

Our snack this week is: Oreo Mint Wafers.
